Our Values

Joshua Methodist Church is a place where you will be loved dearly, challenged to grow in God’s word and encouraged to join others in service to those in need.  Through community gatherings (large and small), times of corporate worship and relaxed fellowship, we seek to help you grow in a real faith with a real God in a tangible way.

As committed Christian disciples at Joshua Methodist, we endeavor to LOVE God, GROW in grace and SERVE others.  In living to our fullest potential and calling, we emphasize three core values which correspond to three key aspects of the Christian life described in the Bible.

LOVE

We will share the heart of Christ, treating each person as precious to Him and building authentic Christian community.  Romans 12:9-10

GROW

We will mature in the mind of Christ, living our lives in Him, following His will and receiving His Power.  Ephesians 4:11-16

SERVE

We will be the hands and feet of Christ, using our time on this earth to make a difference for Him.  John 13:14

Our Beliefs

Joshua Methodist Church is part of the Global Methodist Church. The Global Methodist Church is a body of believers from all over the world committed to making disciples who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.

Jesus calls those who follow Him to love God wholeheartedly and love their neighbors as themselves. Our desire is to demonstrate to the world the extravagant love of God in the person of Jesus Christ.

We have been entrusted with a lifesaving and transforming message that we must share with others. Our witness is bold, compelling and fearless. Our mission advances when individuals become disciples of Jesus Christ and join God’s mission to make more disciples. To learn more about what Methodists believe check out THIS LINK.

God

God, who is one, is revealed in three distinct persons.

Jesus

In our faith, we affirm that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, selflessly bore our sins upon the cross, granting us the incomparable gift of redemption. It is solely through faith in Him that we receive salvation, a grace-filled gift from God. As Ephesians 2:8-9 declares, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” In Jesus, we find the true source of salvation and the foundation of our beliefs.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, co-equal with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit not only convicts us of our sins but also sanctifies us, empowering us to grow in holiness and to live out a vibrant Christian life. When we discern God’s guidance, face spiritual challenges, or experience His comfort and strength, it is the profound work of the Holy Spirit manifesting in our lives.

Human Beings

Genesis 1:27 asserts that we’ve been made in the image of the Creator. Like God we have the capacity to love and care, to communicate, and to create. However, because of Adam’s fall, mankind has been infected by sin. It is only by Jesus’ finished work on the cross that we can be made right with God.

The Church

The church is the body of Christ, an extension of Christ’s life and ministry in the world today.

The Bible

We believe that the 66 books of the Old and New Testament are God’s written word and are the primary rule and authority for faith, morals, and service, against which all other authorities must be measured.

God’s Reign

The kingdom or reign of God is both a present reality and future hope.
